Vmware Workstation Serial Number
Starting from TADDM 7.3.0 version, it is possible to configure TADDM in order to discover ESX through VMWare API instead of ESX API, while in previous versions ESX API was mandatory.
First of all, the configuration must be checked. In order to use VMWare API the collation.properties file must contain the following row:
ordinalESXviaVCserialDiscovery=true
Anyway, even having the correct configuration set, it is possible that some serial numbers are not filled in. Indeed, the information relies on the vCenter API HostHardwareSummary.otherIdentifyingInfo property value, that is vendor depending, as reported in the vmWare documentation:

SMASH/CIM API can be configured instead, through the following property set in collation.properties:
directESXserialDiscovery=true
SMASH/CIM API is more reliable in returning the serial number filled in. So when available it is recommended to use SMASH/CIM API instead of VMWare API.
